Ok, but why are coffee cans eco-friendly? Take a look at just some of the reasons below.

  • Coffee cans are made from recyclable materials. Most of the cans are made from a mix of steel and aluminum. Both are perfectly recyclable metals. Here are two reasons why.
    • Metals are easy to melt down and then shape into something else
    • It is easy to separate metal from other materials
  • Coffee cans are quick to clean and transport. This makes them simple to recycle.

How Do You Recycle Coffee Cans?

If your house is anything like mine, then getting through a can of coffee doesn’t take long. In fact, I threw one out just this morning. We all need a mug of the hot stuff just to feel human in the morning. And with all the coffee we’re getting through, we must recycle our cans.

So how should you recycle your coffee cans? It’s simple. Here are all the steps you need.

  1. Empty the can of its contents
  2. Give the can a rinse to make sure that there isn’t any leftover coffee in it
  3. Check the label on the can of coffee. If it has a plastic or a wax covering remove it if it’s possible to do so.
  4. Put the can of coffee into your home recycling bin. You can also recycle the foil lid with the can.

What can you do if you don’t want to put the can into your home recycling bin? Why not take it to your local metal recycling center? You could even wait until you have a few cans saved up or a couple more metal items and then take them down there together.

What can you do to reduce your coffee can usage? Instead of cutting back on drinking coffee, buy your coffee cans in bulk. Buying a larger can will reduce packaging and waste. Buying in bulk could also save you money!
