You should never put it on your compost heap as it does not biodegrade.

Can You Use a Cardboard Box as a Cat Litter Box?

Do you have a couple of cardboard boxes lying around that you are wondering what to do with? Then you can use a cardboard box as a cat litter box. 

Of course, this will not be a good permanent solution to a cat litter tray because of the nature of the material. 

But, it is cheap and easy to replace so go for it! Not sure how to make yours? Then follow these steps:

  1. Cut a sturdy cardboard box down to size
  2. Cover the sides of the box in thick duct tape
  3. Place a potty pad under the box and trace around the size of the base
  4. Cut a potty pad to the size of the base of the box
  5. Tape the potty pad to the inside of the box
  6. Fill the box with a thin layer of cat litter. Be careful not to overfill the box with cat litter.
  7. Replace the cat litter when it begins to smell and replace the box base when necessary
Are Fresh Step Cat Litter Boxes Recyclable?

The great thing about a cardboard cat litter box is that it is cheap and easy to make and also easy to recycle. 

You only need a box, a pair of scissors, a pen, some tape, and a potty pad for the job. To recycle yours, remove the cat litter from it. 

You can then place the cardboard box in your home cardboard recycling waste or take it to your local cardboard recycling center.
